A One-Day Workshop on ‘Elocution: The Art of Public Speaking’ organised at Multani Mal Modi College, Patiala

The Debate and Declamation Committee of Multani Mal Modi College, Patiala today organized a one-day workshop on ‘Elocution: the Art of Public Speaking’ under the guidance of the Principal Dr. Khushvinder Kumar. The objective of this workshop was to train and equip the students with required skills and techniques of selection of ideas and their presentation during debates and discussions. Prof. Nirmal Singh, former Vice-Principal, Former Bursar and former Head, Department of Commerce and Dr. Harcharan Singh, Ex. Registrar and former Head Department of Punjabi, participated in this workshop as resource persons. In this workshop Prof. Neena Sareen, Dean Co-Curricular activities and Head Department of Commerce was also present.
Principal of the college Dr. Khushvinder Kumar welcomed the resource persons and participating students and said that the argumentative abilities and clarity of thoughts are must for a good orator. A good communication requires a good command over the language and proficiency in expressing ideas.
Dr. Vaneet Kaur, Head, Department of English introduced the resource persons while announcing various topics for this workshop.
During the workshop the students participated in debate and discussion on the topics of Chat GPT and AI- Impact on Education, Glamorization of Gangster Culture, and Environmental Disasters-Retaliation by Nature, Social Media Influencers-The New Age Celebrities, Geo-politics, G-20 Summit and India, Prospectus of Tourism in Punjab, International Year of the Millets-2023
Dr. Nirmal Singh appreciated the participating students and said that the art of oration and public speaking requires constant practice and to develop the habits of reading, listening to others and critical thinking
Dr. Harcharan Singh emphasized upon the importance of language as communication tool. He said that a good communicator must be able to organize and put his or her ideas in a clear, precise and in a articulated way. Our arguments and counter arguments should be well constructed with clarity of thought and visionary perspective.
The stage was conducted by Dr. Gaganpreet Kaur, Department of Chemistry and Vote of thanks was presented by Dr. Bhanvi Wadhawan.
In this workshop Dr. Rupinder Sharma, Dr. Maninderdeep Cheema, Dr. Rupinder Singh Dhillon, Dr. Santosh Bala, Dr. Harleen Kaur and Dr. Kuldeep Kaur were present.

ਮੁਲਤਾਨੀ ਮੱਲ ਮੋਦੀ ਕਾਲਜ, ਪਟਿਆਲਾ ਦੀ ਡਿਬੇਟ ਅਤੇ ਡੈਕਲਮੇਸ਼ਨ ਕਮੇਟੀ ਨੇ ਅੱਜ ਕਾਲਜ ਪ੍ਰਿੰਸੀਪਲ ਡਾ. ਖੁਸ਼ਵਿੰਦਰ ਕੁਮਾਰ ਦੀ ਅਗਵਾਈ ਹੇਠ ਭਾਸ਼ਣਬਾਜ਼ੀ: ਪਬਲਿਕ ਸਪੀਕਿੰਗ ਦੀ ਕਲਾ’ ਵਿਸ਼ੇ ‘ਤੇ ਇੱਕ ਰੋਜ਼ਾ ਵਰਕਸ਼ਾਪ ਦਾ ਆਯੋਜਨ ਕੀਤਾ। ਇਸ ਵਰਕਸ਼ਾਪ ਦਾ ਉਦੇਸ਼ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਬਹਿਸ ਅਤੇ ਵਿਚਾਰ-ਵਟਾਂਦਰੇ ਲਈ ਵਿਚਾਰਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਦਲੀਲਾਂ ਦੀ ਚੋਣ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਲੋੜੀਂਦੇ ਹੁਨਰਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਤਕਨੀਕਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਸਿਖਲਾਈ ਅਤੇ ਲੈਸ ਕਰਨਾ, ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਾਲਿਸ਼ ਕਰਨਾ ਅਤੇ ਬਹਿਸਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਵਿਚਾਰ-ਵਟਾਂਦਰੇ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਕੁਸ਼ਲਤਾ ਨਾਲ ਅੱਗੇ ਵਧਾਉਣਾ ਸੀ। ਇਸ ਵਰਕਸ਼ਾਪ ਵਿੱਚ ਪ੍ਰੋ: ਨਿਰਮਲ ਸਿੰਘ, ਸਾਬਕਾ ਵਾਈਸ ਪ੍ਰਿੰਸੀਪਲ, ਬਰਸਰ ਅਤੇ ਸਾਬਕਾ ਮੁਖੀ ਕਾਮਰਸ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਅਤੇ ਡਾ: ਹਰਚਰਨ ਸਿੰਘ, ਸਾਬਕਾ ਰਜਿਸਟਰਾਰ ਅਤੇ ਮੁਖੀ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਨੇ ਸਰੋਤ ਵਿਅਕਤੀਆਂ ਵਜੋਂ ਭਾਗ ਲਿਆ।ਇਸ ਵਰਕਸ਼ਾਪ ਵਿੱਚ ਡਾ. ਨੀਨਾ ਸਰੀਨ, ਡੀਨ ਸਹਿ-ਅਕਾਦਮਿਕ ਗਤੀਵਿਧੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਮੁਖੀ ਕਾਮਰਸ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਵੀ ਸ਼ਾਮਿਲ ਹੋਏ।
ਕਾਲਜ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਿੰਸੀਪਲ ਡਾ. ਖੁਸ਼ਵਿੰਦਰ ਕੁਮਾਰ ਜੀ ਨੇ ਵਰਕਸ਼ਾਪ ਵਿੱਚ ਭਾਗ ਲੈਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਮਾਹਿਰਾਂ ਦਾ ਸਵਾਗਤ ਕਰਦਿਆ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਇੱਕ ਚੰਗੇ ਬੁਲਾਰੇ ਲਈ ਦਲੀਲ ਨੂੰ ਘੜ੍ਹਣ ਦੀ ਕਾਬਲੀਅਤ ਅਤੇ ਸੋਚ ਦੀ ਸਪਸ਼ਟਤਾ ਜ਼ਰੂਰੀ ਹੈ। ਇੱਕ ਵਧੀਆ ਸੰਚਾਰ ਲਈ ਭਾਸ਼ਾ ਉੱਤੇ ਚੰਗੀ ਕਮਾਂਡ ਅਤੇ ਵਿਚਾਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਗਟਾਉਣ ਵਿੱਚ ਮੁਹਾਰਤ ਹਾਸਿਲ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਲੋੜ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਅੰਗਰੇਜ਼ੀ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਦੇ ਮੁਖੀ ਡਾ: ਵਨੀਤ ਕੌਰ ਨੇ ਵਰਕਸ਼ਾਪ ਲਈ ਆਏ ਮਾਹਿਰਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਜਾਣ-ਪਛਾਣ ਕਰਵਾਈ ਅਤੇ ਇਸ ਵਰਜਸ਼ਾਪ ਲਈ ਚੁਣੇ ਵੱਖ-ਵੱਖ ਵਿਸ਼ਿਆਂ ਬਾਰੇ ਜਾਣੂ ਕਰਵਾਇਆ।
ਇਸ ਵਰਕਸ਼ਾਪ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਚੈਟ ਜੀਪੀਟੀ ਅਤੇ ਏ ਆਈ ਦੇ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ‘ਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵ, ਗੈਂਗਸਟਰ ਕਲਚਰ ਦਾ ਗਲੈਮਰਾਈਜ਼ੇਸ਼ਨ, ਵਾਤਾਵਰਣ ਦੀਆਂ ਆਫ਼ਤਾਂ-ਕੁਦਰਤ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਬਦਲਾ, ਸੋਸ਼ਲ ਮੀਡੀਆ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵੀ-ਦੀ ਨਿਊ ਏਜ ਸੈਲੀਬ੍ਰਿਟੀਜ਼, ਜੀੳ-ਰਾਜਨੀਤੀ, ਜੀ-20 ਸੰਮੇਲਨ ਅਤੇ ਭਾਰਤ, ਪੰਜਾਬ ਵਿੱਚ ਸੈਰ ਸਪਾਟੇ ਦੀਆਂ ਸੰਭਾਵਨਾਵਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਮੋਟੇ ਅਨਾਜ ਦਾ ਅੰਤਰਰਾਸ਼ਟਰੀ ਸਾਲ-2023 ਆਦਿ ਵਿਸ਼ਿਆਂ ‘ਤੇ ਬਹਿਸ ਅਤੇ ਵਿਚਾਰ-ਵਟਾਂਦਰੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਹਿੱਸਾ ਲਿਆ
ਡਾ: ਨਿਰਮਲ ਸਿੰਘ ਨੇ ਭਾਗ ਲੈਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਲਾਘਾ ਕਰਦਿਆ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਭਾਸ਼ਣ, ਖਾਸ ਤੌਰ ਤੇ ਜਨਤਕ ਭਾਸ਼ਣ ਦੀ ਕਲਾ ਲਈ ਨਿਰੰਤਰ ਅਭਿਆਸ ਦੀ ਲੋੜ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਇਸ ਲਈ ਲਗਾਤਾਰ ਪੜ੍ਹਦੇ ਰਹਿਣ, ਦੂਜਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਸੁਣਨ ਅਤੇ ਆਲੋਚਨਾਤਮਕ ਸੋਚ ਦੀਆਂ ਆਦਤਾਂ ਵਿਕਸਿਤ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਲੋੜ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਡਾ: ਹਰਚਰਨ ਸਿੰਘ ਨੇ ਸੰਚਾਰ ਸਾਧਨ ਵਜੋਂ ਭਾਸ਼ਾ ਦੀ ਮਹੱਤਤਾ ‘ਤੇ ਜ਼ੋਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਇੱਕ ਚੰਗੇ ਸੰਚਾਰਕ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਵਿਚਾਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਪਸ਼ੱਟ, ਸਟੀਕ ਅਤੇ ਚੰਗੇ ਤਰੀਕੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਸੰਗਠਿਤ ਕਰਨ ਅਤੇ ਪੇਸ਼ ਕਰਨ ਦੇ ਯੋਗ ਹੋਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ। ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਦਲੀਲਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਜਵਾਬੀ ਦਲੀਲਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਵਿਚਾਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਸਪਸ਼ਟਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਦੂਰਦਰਸ਼ੀ ਦ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀਕੋਣ ਨਾਲ ਚੰਗੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਘੜ੍ਹਿਆ ਜਾਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਮੰਚ ਸੰਚਾਲਨ ਡਾ: ਗਗਨਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਕੌਰ, ਕੈਮਿਸਟਰੀ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਨੇ ਕੀਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਧੰਨਵਾਦ ਦਾ ਮਤਾ ਡਾ: ਭਾਨਵੀ ਵਧਾਵਨ ਨੇ ਪੇਸ਼ ਕੀਤਾ।
ਇਸ ਵਰਕਸ਼ਾਪ ਵਿੱਚ ਡਾ: ਰੁਪਿੰਦਰ ਸ਼ਰਮਾ, ਡਾ: ਮਨਿੰਦਰਦੀਪ ਚੀਮਾ, ਡਾ: ਰੁਪਿੰਦਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਢਿੱਲੋਂ, ਡਾ: ਸੰਤੋਸ਼ ਬਾਲਾ, ਡਾ: ਹਰਲੀਨ ਕੌਰ ਅਤੇ ਡਾ: ਕੁਲਦੀਪ ਕੌਰ ਹਾਜ਼ਰ ਸਨ।
